Dublin Days 3 & 4

By day three I was still sleeping in every day till well past 11am and it was wonderful. I had nowhere to be, no one to answer to, no responsibility at all. I am not saying I could have lived like that for very long, but for a few sweet days, it was heaven. I am sure being jet lagged a bit probably made it easy as well.

While I was waking up, so was Casper- we both happen to be a bit grouchy when we wake up. Good thing uncle David was there to cuddle.

Once I was up and moving with a cup of coffee in me, one of Jessica's friends, Kathy came by with her precious little daughter, Aisling, and we went for a long walk along the Dublin Bay (David left before us and got in a good run, but it was all in the same general area, he was just buggy-free). So maybe I should back up and tell you where Jess and Kalle live- this will help in future posts to show you the places we went.

Thanks to Google Maps, I present to you, a map of Dublin, with a red box and arrow showing you specifically the area where the Ryans live (that is courtesy of me, not Google Maps believe it or not).

This is enlarged satellite image of the area in the red box above.

I show you all that to explain where we walked/ran. It was along Dublin Bay out along the South Wall, you can see it in the upper right hand part of the image. There is literally a wall that goes all the way out on the water, with a lighthouse on the end.

The tide was rising pretty quickly and as we walked out on the wall, water started to come up over the edges, and when it was almost ankle deep at certain places, we decided we better get out of there before the buggies were in danger of being washed away. Don't worry. we survived.

And then we had a wonderful breakfast of eggs and grits. Yum. Casper ate half of my breakfast and all of his. Who can blame the kid for wanting your food when he is so freaking cute? Plus he is growing too- he needs it more than me.

On the morning of day 4, it was my turn to get the wake up cuddle.

That cuddle was one of my favorite things that happened during the week.

Once we woke up, we got all fresh looking and went to Google to have lunch with Kalle.

Dave and Casper wore matching tweed.

We had quite the feast at Google, toured the newly renovated building and had a a little fun being silly.
Google's office is very impressive, they have a full cafe (actually more than one) and there is a salad bar, pizza, a special course of the day by a resident or guest chef. Soup, desserts, sodas...you get the picture. Apparently its a known fact that when you come to work at Google, you usually gain about 10 lbs in the first 2 weeks. There is food everywhere.  Yum!

Later that day we tried to go see King Tut but it didn't really work out and so we just headed home .

On a closing note, I should mention that Casper loved the present we got him. Yay! Mozart music cube!
